About

This website wasn’t planned.

While preparing to move to Japan, I did a lot of research on the net — looking for jobs, looking for apartments, reading blogs… Pretty much everything. Now that I’m here in Japan, I thought I’d share that information with anyone else who might be coming to Japan. Hence the way clever 2JPN name!

2JPN is very much inspired by Guy Kawasaki’s Alltop.com, which in turn was inspired by Popurls. A very deep and respectful bow goes out to both of them. Arigato dudes.

The FAQs:

How does this site work?

Most of the content that you see on 2JPN’s pages comes from RSS feeds (and to a lesser extent data scraping). RSS is a technology that websites are using these days to distribute their information around the internet. I’m become pretty damn good at filtering these feeds so that I automatically get all the best information and data about Japan on the net. The best of what I’ve found, I’ve put here on 2JPN.

If you came to this site looking for something, and you didn’t find it — EMAIL ME, and I’ll try to find it for you.

Wait a minute! You forgot to add ___.com!

If you have any resources or websites that you think should be included on 2JPN, please drop me an email. Or you can send me a message on twitter as well. If it’s worth sharing, it’ll be posted.

How can I show off to everyone that my website made the cut?

Slap this sucker on your site, and everyone will know your site is super すごい! Get the html code here.
2JPN.com The best from Japan all in one place

2JPN.com The best from Japan all in one place

It’s not necessary by any means, because if your site is useful to readers, 2JPN will promote it regardless. But I’d certainly consider it a personal favor. :) Alternatively, you can add one the 2JPN Google Gadget or flash widget as well.

How does this site make money?

It doesn’t. But if you’d like to advertise on 2jpn, or be an exclusive sponsor for the site, I will consider it. Email me.

And who the @#$% are you anyhow?

I’m Rick. Pleased ta meetchya.
